# ZED Box

Congratulations on being the owner of a brand-new [ZED Box](https://www.stereolabs.com/store/products/zed-box-orin) embedded PC!

![ZED Box with Orin NX](/_fern-files/_img/f5e547d680e6eb7bfd6aa929898437dea09bb9a9a0f726950155ea561cf77ebd.webp)

The ZED Box is a compact gateway powered by [NVIDIA® Jetson™](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/autonomous-machines/embedded-systems/) for challenging AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) in mobile and field situations. It is designed to bring spatial perception and understanding to the edge, and to aggregate, process, and analyze data from 3D sensors and equipment.

## Main features

The **ZED Box** is a ready-to-use edge AI system: an **NVIDIA® Jetson™** compute module, native **[GMSL2](/docs/products/embedded/zed-link-capture-card/gmsl2#what-is-gmsl2)** camera connectivity, Ethernet with PoE+, USB, and WiFi in a compact, fanless enclosure with passive heat dissipation.

### Compute module

The ZED Box is available with different [NVIDIA® Jetson™ compute modules](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/autonomous-machines/embedded-systems/jetson-orin/), so you can match the computing power to the requirements of your application:

* NVIDIA® Jetson™ Orin Nano 8 GB - 40 TOPS
* NVIDIA® Jetson™ Orin NX 8 GB - 70 TOPS
* NVIDIA® Jetson™ Orin NX 16 GB - 100 TOPS

### GMSL2 camera connectivity

**GMSL2** connectivity is a **standard feature** of the ZED Box. It enables high-speed, low-latency data transfer between the processing unit and your **ZED GMSL2 cameras**, making it an ideal choice for **industrial-grade applications**.

* **4 GMSL2 ports** on a single 4-wire FAKRA connector, organized in 2 groups: **A** (ports #0 and #1) and **B** (ports #2 and #3).
* Compatible with **ZED X**, **ZED X Mini**, **ZED X Nano**, **ZED X One GS**, **ZED X One S**, and **ZED X One 4K** cameras.
* The **GMSL2 driver is pre-installed**. Connect the cameras before powering on the device; GMSL2 cameras are not hot-pluggable, so any change requires a reboot or a restart of the ZED X daemon.

The [Using GMSL with ZED Box](/docs/products/embedded/zed-box-series/zed-box/using-gmsl) guide explains how to reinstall the GMSL2 driver, for example after a system upgrade, and lists the supported multi-camera configurations.

### Connectivity

The main connection ports are on the front panel, described in the [installation guide](/docs/products/embedded/zed-box-series/zed-box/installation#connection-panel):

* 1x GMSL2 4-wire FAKRA camera connector
* 1x 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet RJ45 with **PoE+** support
* 3x USB 3.0 Type-A
* 1x HDMI
* 1x Micro USB 2.0 Type-B for system flashing, OTG, and [serial console](/docs/products/embedded/zed-box-series/zed-box/serial-console) access
* **WiFi** module with external antenna
* 1x external antenna connector for the [GNSS option](#gnss-option)

### Storage memory

An internal **NVMe SSD** mounted on an M.2 socket hosts the operating system and your data. Three capacities are available:

* 256 GB
* 1 TB
* 2 TB

### Power supply

The ZED Box can be powered in two ways:

* **DC barrel jack** (12V to 19V, up to 60W), with the provided power supply: supports all the [power modes](/docs/products/embedded/zed-box-series/zed-box/power-modes) of the Jetson module.
* **PoE+**, through a PoE+-enabled network switch: up to **25.5W** for the whole system.

### Software

The ZED Box is shipped with a **pre-configured operating system**, including the NVIDIA® JetPack™ software stack, the **ZED SDK**, and the **GMSL2 drivers**, so it is operational out of the box. Flashing is only required to change the JetPack version or to recover the device, as described in the [flashing guide](/docs/products/embedded/zed-box-series/zed-box/reset-update).

## Options

In addition to the features above, the **ZED Box** can be configured with the following **option**, based on your specific needs and use cases.

### GNSS option

The **GNSS** option adds a GNSS module that provides the global position used by the ZED SDK [Global Localization](/docs/development/zed-sdk/modules/global-localization) module. With **Real-Time Kinematic** (RTK) corrections, it reaches **centimeter-level accuracy**.

To get started, follow the [Using GNSS with ZED Box](/docs/products/embedded/zed-box-series/zed-box/using-gnss) guide: it explains how to **install the antenna**, check the GNSS data, and **enable RTK** on the GNSS module.
