GMSL2 Cables
The ZED X, ZED X Mini, ZED X Nano, ZED X One GS, ZED X One S and ZED X One 4K cameras have a male FAKRA Z connector. The cable that connects the camera must therefore have at least one female FAKRA Z connector.
The ZED X One Core uses a MIPI CSI-2 coaxial cable of up to 50 cm, not a GMSL2 cable. See the ZED Link MIPI capture cards page.
Choose your GMSL2 cable
The cable depends on the GMSL2 connector of your host:
To place a camera farther from the host, add a GMSL2 FAKRA Extension Cable M-F between the camera and the cable above. Where space is tight, use the GMSL2 FAKRA Right-Angle Extension Cable M-F, with a 90° angled connector.
When you connect a FAKRA connector, push it in until you hear a “click”. The cameras are powered over the coaxial cable: see GMSL2 Power Requirements to size the power of your setup.
Maximum length
The maximum total length of a GMSL2 link, from the host connector to the camera, is 15 m (49 ft), including the 0.5 m of the 1-to-4 cable. Longer links can cause camera disconnections.
Each coupling between two cables adds noise to the signal and reduces the length you can reach. Use as few cables as possible: choose the longest single cable that fits your setup rather than chaining short extensions.
Available GMSL2 cables
The length tolerance is ±0.01 m for the 0.3 m cables, ±0.015 m for the 0.5 m cables, ±0.03 m for the 1.5 m cables, ±0.05 m for the 5 m and 10 m cables, and ±0.1 m for the 15 m cable.
The ZED Link Duo includes one 1-to-4 cable, and the ZED Link Quad and the ZED Box 2 Max include two. Check the “What’s in the box” section of your host before ordering cables.
Cable specifications
All the GMSL2 cables use RTK031 coaxial cable and universally keyed Z-code FAKRA connectors, identified by their purple insert.
The technical drawings of each cable are available in the GMSL2 cables datasheet.
